Matt Patterson, a New Ipswich artist recently completed a commissioned mural as part of the New Hampshire Percent for Art Program for the NH National Guard.
The mural is located in the Construction and Facilities Management Office, Building F in Concord New Hampshire. The mural is roughly 4.5 feet tall by 4 feet wide. Matt spent most of the summer completing this work.
The goal of this painting was to tie the National Guard’s past history to the present century and depicts a minute man along side a contemporary soldier.
Matt has created other commissioned murals which are seen daily by drivers traveling along Main street in Jaffrey, NH. These are done in the Trompe-l’oeil style. One mural depicts a man climbing out of window and the other is a man with his head in a brick wall (see slideshow).
Matt also did the illustrations for the book “freshwater fish of the northeast”, a collaboration project with his father.
