Tomorrow, advance ticket sales for The Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn – Part 1 will begin, but it doesn’t look like fans will be visiting IMAX for the latest Twilight Saga installment this time.
While Eclipse was available in IMAX last June, IMAX has stated (via e-mail) that no plans to digitally remaster the film for use in IMAX theaters have been announced. Since it’s almost October, and the film is due to hit theaters in less than two months, chances are, it’s not going to happen (the news that Eclipse would hit IMAX came six months prior to its release).
So, the question is, why wouldn’t Breaking Dawn – Part 1 be released in IMAX? After all, Eclipse‘s IMAX release broke records.
No response was available from Summit Entertainment, so there’s no official answer to that question, but what are your thoughts? Was Eclipse more IMAX-worthy than Breaking Dawn – Part 1 will be (i.e., more action sequences, more visual dynamics at play perhaps)? Or is there another potential reason? Also, should The Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn – Part 2, which will be a different film entirely from Part 1, be released to IMAX? Why or why not?
