Chicagoans, on Tuesday, enjoyed their 4th straight day of unseasonably warm weather. The temperature over the region climbed into the lower 70s for the first time in nearly two weeks since October 12 where the temperature was 78 degrees. A cold front that was passing over the area Tuesday evening brought unsettled weather in the form of showers and thunderstorms. That has all ended since ended.
The weather pattern is trending cooler starting today till maybe mid-week next week with highs not making it past 60 degrees. Off and on lake-effect rain showers will develop today through Thursday in large to northerly winds driving a cooler airmass over warmer lake waters in which clouds are able to form. About 40% of the area (areas/counties adjacent to the lake) will have to worry about lake effect rain showers today through Thursday.
Wednesday: Cloudy, windy, and noticeably cooler. Showers affecting 40% of the area (mainly lakeside counties). Highs in the low to mid 50s (unseasonable and that of early November). Winds north-northeast 10-20 mph with gust as high as 30 mph.
Thursday: Cloudy and remaining cool. Second day of below normal temperatures. Scattered showers affecting areas near the lake. Highs in the upper 40s to near 50 degrees. Winds north 5-15 mph.
Friday: Partly to mostly cloudy, and cool with a chance for showers early and then again late. Highs near 50 degrees. Winds north-northeast 10-20 mph.
Saturday: Partly sunny and unseasonably cool. A chance for a shower or sprinkle early. Highs in the lower 50s. Winds northwest 5-10 mph becoming southwest late.
Sunday: Partly cloudy with highs in the upper 50s. A slight chance for a late day shower. Winds southwest 5-15 mph.
Monday: Mostly sunny with highs in the upper 50s to lower 60s. Winds west-northwest 5-10 mph.
Tuesday: Partly cloudy and warming up. Highs in the lower 60s. Winds south 5-10 mph strengthening to 10-20 mph.
