Archived Interview 2011: IFBB PRO ALVIN SMALL
On January 2, 2011- IFBB pro Alvin Small talks to Muscle Talk 101. Bodybuilder Alvin Small has one of the best bodies in the league today. I have a feeling that he is not going anywhere for a long time. Alvin Small’s name will go down in History guaranteed.
1) When was the first moment when you realized that bodybuilding was going to be a major part of your life?
My first ever show was in 2006, it was a qualifier for the British championships that same year. as soon as I stepped on stage I caused a bit of a stir due to my size, I went on to win the qualifier and the British championships 6 weeks later, I think at that point there i new this sport would be part of my life..
2) What was the happiest moment in bodybuilding for you?
This isn’t such an easy question to answer Claudia, now if you’d have asked me what was the saddest moment i could reel them off, but to answer your question it’s all been great so far.
3) How long have you been in the bodybuilding business?
Well in real terms I’m still a baby, I’ve only been competing for four years, and have managed to climb the ranks quite quickly.. There’s guys & girls who have been trying two/three times as long and still haven’t made it, got to give thanks to god..
4) When was the last show you ever done and what was the results.
My last show was the British championships in October 2010, and after three years of competing in a weight class against the best super heavyweights in the UK, I managed to get the top spot in the class & win the overall, lol which entitled me to the only pro card given out in the UK.
5) Give one word that defines Alvin small and why?
6) How do you feel about poor nutrition which leads to obesity and other heart disease.. What should be done about it?
Poor nutrition where people have no choice but to eat crap is a crime! Poor nutrition where people are informed and have a choice is pure ignorance!! What should be done about it??? It’s difficult to change the years of social conditioning from the outside! The person/s has to want to change on the inside. If he or she is informed then every support should be in-place to help adjust to good eating practices.
7) Do you find that it is hard to pack on Muscle on a tall frame?
No! it’s all about the eating..it’s all bout the sleeping..it’s all about the training..if I want to get bigger i just do more of all the above..lol
8)Is there a website that people can go to find out what your about and what you are doing?
yeah!! its not great needs updating too lol Alvin small.net..not got much to say about the site really…lol
9) If there was a young man that wants to follow in your footsteps what advice would you give him?
my advice to any one taking up the sport is that, this will probably be the best time of your life men will want to be like you, girls will want to be with you..lol you’ll be stronger than the average man in the street, and you’ll wear cloths and your cloths won’t wear you..lol BUT!!! you won’t be big forever or strong forever you’ll be old like everyone else.. body building should be a part of your life and not your whole life, it’s up to you to find the balance..
10) Where do you see yourself in 10 years?
lol not really sure “Claudia” all I know is some small point in history my name will be scribbled i was here…
