The new Occupy Wall Street movement is quickly gaining attention and forcing our governing system to show their true colors. The new movement is a group of everyday Americans who make up 99% of working class Americans from fast food workers to executive professionals to emergency responders. Surprisingly (or more like not surprising), there has been limited mainstream coverage of this major constitutional protest against the current economy and political climate.
The limited mainstream coverage suggests that this movement is more in the likes of rioting and out-of-control teens and college kids. There are also reports that this group is simply anti-war and pro terrorism and/or anti-American, marijuana users, lazy class and anti-establishment, however this couldn’t be further from the truth.
The group is united and the only qualification is to be a concerned American who is feed up with suffering the consequences for poor judgements by the government, laws pressed without permission, industrial outsourcing, foreign central banking systems and silenced for opposition. The movement is made up of retail workers, customer service representatives, fire fighters, doctors, lawyers, police officers, celebrities ect. There is no race, age, religion or political preference requirements to be included in this crowd. Their your neighbors and friends who make the 99% of this country and are sick of not having a say in what goes on in their own country while paying the bills.
Some may argue that these are illegal out of control flash mobs and riots. This is aided by the very limited coverage which does not display a peaceful protest, but instead an excited crowd after police move in and gas and beat the group portraying them as out of control. But who really lost touch with what America is supposed to be? Revolution, rebellion to law, protest and natural disobedience is the foundation of this country in the first place. With that being said however, George Orwell once said, ” Every generation imagines itself to be more intelligent than the one that went before it, and wiser than the one that comes after it. “
This shouldn’t be a debate between citizens as our current establishment relies on that. This is a movement for a better world and future. Let us all just pay attention to what the police, who’s paychecks we all pay, are doing to fellow citizens who demand a better future. Floods of videos have been uploaded through out the internet (especially YouTube) displaying military style police officers beating, force-ably arresting peaceful citizens and gassing protesters young and elderly to break the message. These are the very people that pay the police to protect them. We’ve seen plenty of police brutality videos before in the past that seemed kinda spread out and few and far between here in America, but over the past couple weeks we have seen hundreds of mass assaults on American citizens right here at home.
But the message still stands, there are more of us then there are of them and they are destroying everything for us, yet we remain a democracy. Considering that we must ask who is really breaking the law? This movement is working it’s way state to state and of course a date has been set for us here at home in Arizona.
The Occupy Phoenix rally will be Saturday, October 15 at 12:00pm located at the Cesar Chavez Plaza. It is already been stated that anyone video taping the event will be arrested (which by way is very against the law), so remember to bring your camera. This is our chance to make it be known who works for who and take back our voice and country for the people. Stand for the people, restore freedom and remove the criminal establishment.
