It began in October 2002, when this, now popular, outdoor and indoor art festival brought local artists to the attention of an estimated crowd of 300 people. Since then the First Friday Las Vegas art themed event has grown by leaps and bounds. One time each month the downtown streets of Las Vegas open to local art vendors inviting the public to mix and mash all in the name of art. October 7th 2011 marks the 9 year anniversary of First Friday.
Now catering to an attendence of 5,000 to as many as 10,000 people, First Friday has become an anchor for the 18b Arts District in Las Vegas. Under new ownership, and after a two month summer break in the monthly venue, First Friday plans to celebrate with gusto, energy and high hopes of strengthening the already existing foundation of this art event.
The new owners intend to grow this monthly event with their resources and existing infrastructure with plans for marketing First Friday into a destination festival. First Friday Las Vegas, LLC group includes downtown developers, Vanas and Andrew Donner along with Fred Mossler, Steve Hill and Tony Hsiech executives with Zappos.com. The founders of First Friday, Whirlygig Inc and Cindy Funkhouser will be lending their knowledge and assistance for the next two months to insure a smooth transition for the new owners and attendees.
This festival is centered around Casino Center and Charelston Blvd in downtown Las Vegas Nevada. It spralls and spans far and wide across the arts district offering something for everyone. Art, entertainment, music and food are sure to be front and center stage for this anniversary event. Be there to join in the celebration!
