The Ottawa Senators have made their roster cuts and now the Binghamton Senators get down to business. The regular season kicks off a week from today, when the defending AHL champion Senators host the Hershey Bears at 7:05 PM.
Those haded to Binghamton include, defensemen Tim Conboy, Eric Gryba and Craig Schira, and forwards Louie Caporusso, Pat Cannone, Corey Cowick, David Dziurzynski, Derek Grant, Wacey Hamilton, Francis Lessard, Corey Locke, Jim O’Brien, Mark Parrish and Andre Petersson.
Conboy, Lessard, Locke and Parrish cleared waivers at noon on Wednesday. There was no reason to think they wouldn’t, but when you put a player of Locke’s ability, especially considering all he’s accomplished the last few seasons, you just never know.
Goalie Mike McKenna was placed on waivers and he cleared Thursday. He is likely to share time with Robin Lehner in Binghamton. Lehner though is with a select group still in Ottawa, trying to make his case to stay. So until Ottawa makes their final cuts on Saturday, nothing is set in stone.
Other cuts made by Ottawa include Goaltender Brian Stewart, defensemen Josh Godfrey and Bobby Raymond and forwards Jack Downing and Maxime Gratchev, were released from their tryouts and will also join the B-Sens camp. Forward Darren Kramer will return to his major junior club, the Western Hockey League’s Spokane Chiefs.
Binghamton will travel to Hamilton to take on the Bulldogs at 7:30 PM tonight. It is their first pre-season game without the Ottawa roster mixed in.
