If you love paint, and we mean all types of painting: on fabric, walls and objects, this new DIY book by Wiley publishers should be on your shelf. Do It Yourself 100+ Paint Projects: Fresh Ideas for Your Home, starts out with examples of fabric paint projects. Included is a supply list and, in most instances, a pictorial of steps with the more complicated tasks. The furniture painting uses a lot of in-your-face patterns and you can even learn to use creative spray paint for wicker patio furniture. There is also editorial comment about how to overcome mistakes, and, we were surprised to see a silver leaf project.
Our favorite is the Asian table which incorporates a black Sharpie marker and Briwax Original finishing wax. There are tips on antiquing, and simulating leather with an emphasis on stenciling and masking.
Another example shows how amazing it is that large blocks of various colors can add zing and inspiration to a child’s playroom. Also, a technique for creating denim and using a wood-grained rocking tool to making your own stamp are just a few of the artistic contributions. It even shows howlaminatecan be painted (who knew?). Home and Living did like the suggestion for putting paint inside clear, glass bottles for a nifty coordinated accessory.
There are tips, tools and techniques with painting that explain the necessities such as: using plastic drop cloths, the different types of brushes including rollers, their nap, paint tapes, and more! Also in the back of the book are sources, project patterns and resources including company name, website and phone numbers.
