WEST PALM BEACH, FL—Soon-to-be brides throughout South Florida gathered at the Palm Beach County Convention Center on Sunday, September 25th for the second annual Palm Beach Brides Idea Show presented by The Palm Beach Post.
The event—which also drew in bridal parties, family members, and even a few grooms—offered the opportunity for future brides to get a real glimpse into all aspects of planning their special day. From music to catering, to dresses and cake—not only were brides able to interact with over a hundred participating venders, they were able to experience it all firsthand in one place. Although planning a wedding can be pricey, many of the venders offered deals and promotions that would make saying “I do” not cost a fortune.
“It’s great,” said future bride Hollie Mode when asked what she thought of the event. “I came because I don’t know much [about wedding planning] and I wanted to get some ideas,” she added. When asked about her favorite vender, without hesitation she chose LuLu’s Photo Booth. “It’s cool and fun and your guests can have a great time,” Mode said, who is hopeful for a summer 2012 wedding.
LuLu’s Photo Booth, a portable self-photography booth that prints those popular and beloved vertical-strip photos, did seem to draw in a lot of guests. A number of other photography companies were present at the event, including Thompson Photography, who was running a promotion for a chance to win a free engagement session.
There were other great deals and contests featured throughout the show—budget wedding packages, including a buffet dinner, were advertised from only $39.95 per person by Palm Beach National Golf and Country Club. Boca Raton’s exquisite Wyndham Garden Hotel, which offered affordable wedding packages and catering, was also having a contest for a free weekend at their resort. Additionally, Ruth’s Chris Steak House offered delicious hors d’oeuvres for guests to sample.
While many beautifully-crafted wedding cakes were on display, brides soon realized that there was an array of other sweet and savory options available. Frosting Cupcakes offered a unique take on the idea of traditional wedding cakes and guests had the opportunity to sample their delectable, bite-sized treats, while Eye Candy Sugar boasted about their ability to create a cake that can resemble any item; cakes on display included designer purses and more. For ice cream lovers, Three Scoops Gourmet Mobile Ice Cream had an entire ice cream bar set up with toppings and flavors galore and handed out free sundaes.
Brides were presented with many other affordable ideas for their upcoming wedding, from budget wedding band The Elevators to dazzling jewelry for an affordable price from Look Alike Jewelry.
The event concluded with an elegant fashion show presented by Boca Raton Bridal Consultants and David’s Bridal that displayed “thirty gowns in thirty minutes.” Brides were able to get a glimpse of the various wedding dress styles available for their special day, while some were lucky random winners of terrific prizes.
