Some schools are reducing the amount of time students get to spend in art classes. In response, the Pensacola Museum of Art is increasing the workshops and classes it offers to school age children. These workshops are ideal for homeschool students, gifted students or anyone who just enjoys being creative.
Oct. 5 – Preschool Story Art – 10 to 11 a.m. Ages 3 to 5. Preschoolers are invited for story time and hands-on, story-related art projects at the PMA. $10 for members, $15 for non-members. Classes will be held the first Wednesday of every month.
Oct. 8– Children’s art workshops – 12:30 to 2:30 p.m.: “Absolutely Abstracts”; 3 to 5 p.m.: “All that Glitters…”The PMA offers Saturday workshops for children ages 5 to 13. Cost: $10 for members and $15 for non-members for each class.
Oct. 8 – Art workshop for adults: Paste paper – 12 to 5 p.m. Learn the art and craft of creating original, one-of-a-kind pieces of paste paper with instructor Larry Lou Foster. Cost: $65. Pre-registration and payment are required.
Oct. 14 – PMA Lecture Series– 6 to 7 p.m. “Painting After Photography After Painting” with Frank Donato, Visual Arts Professor, University of West Florida and Pensacola State College. PMA hosts an educational lecture on art history and culture the second Thursday of each month. Free event. RSVP to 850.432.6247.
