Due to the success of the 2011 world tour celebrating the 35th Anniversary of Peter Frampton’s multi-platinum selling live album Frampton Comes Alive!, the tour has been extended into 2012 and includes a stop in the Philadelphia area at the Tower Theater in Upper Darby on February 11, 2012. Tickets go on sale Friday, October 21, 2011.
The three-hour show features a complete performance of Frampton Comes Alive! that the Montreal Gazette describes as “a highly-spirited and expertly-played recreation of the live album.” Frampton will also perform other highlights from his catalog, including his Grammy Award-winning instrumental album, Fingerprints (from 2006). Of the tour the Los Angeles Times says “…the British virtuoso is still making sweet music” while the Santa Barbara Independent describes Frampton’s set as “pleasing those who came to hear the hits and impressing the musicians in the crowd with his still-smoking guitar chops.”
The double live album went on to become the best selling album of 1976, selling more than six million copies in the United States alone. Three top 20 singles were: “Show Me the Way,” “Baby, I Love Your Way,” and “Do You Feel Like We Do.”
The last time Frampton played the Tower Theater was in June of 2010 when he opened for Yes. His son sang a few numbers with him that night.
To commemorate the anniversary of the landmark album, Universal Music Enterprises will be making a limited edition offer exclusively through Peter Frampton’s website. The offer will feature a unique autographed scrapbook containing rare photos and personal reflections from Peter. The scrapbook will be accompanied by Frampton Comes Alive Deluxe Edition, Frampton Comes Alive II Special Edition and other memorabilia.
In addition, Frampton has partnered with EMI’s Abbey Road Live unit to record his forthcoming global 35th anniversary tour of ‘Frampton Comes Alive!’. The tie-up means that fans attending the concerts will be able to purchase high quality CDs featuring that night’s performance immediately after the gig. The sets now available to pre-order online now at www.abbeyroadliveus.com.
Each CD set will cost $35 and include a top quality three disc recording of the concert featuring the complete performance of ‘Frampton Comes Alive!’, plus an audio documentary including an interview with Frampton.
As Peter Frampton himself says of this new partnership: “I’m really looking forward to having a great sounding CD of the evening’s music ready as you leave any show this year. If you need to rush we’ll send it to you. I have already been working with Abbey Road Live tweaking the sound and the results have been amazing. I couldn’t wish for better people to be working with to be able to bring you the memory of “your show” the same night. Abbey Road Live says it all anyway!”
