Have you visited Pinterest? You might have seen a mention or two on Facebook or Twitter, but have you really visited Pinterest? It may be the most fun that you have had on the Internet, especially Social Media, in a long time!
One more bell to answer
Social media has gone from being a fun diversion to almost a daily chore at times. Oops, did you wish so and so from elementary school “Happy Birthday?” Have you worked your fields in Farmville today? Oh, shoot, you forgot to “like” a friend’s photograph of their baby. So it goes, social media, at times, has become just another social responsibility to keep up with. Many of us were doing well just to keep up with the things we already had in our lives.
Girls just want to have fun
Do you remember when the Internet was just for fun? There was email, of course, but you mainly just sat down and surfed the net, maybe visiting sites to get craft ideas or recipes. Perhaps, you just looked at pretty pictures! Pinterest brings that sense of fun back to Internet through a new invitation-only social media site.
I forgot to remember
Pinterest starts out well by allowing you to create an account through Twitter or Facebook so that you don’t have yet another password to remember. (You can sign up “old-school” if you want to.) The great thing is that either way you sign up, you have the option of adding your contacts from Facebook, Twitter, Yahoo, or Gmail who have Pinterest accounts.
Pretty flowers on the wall
Users “pin” pretty and interesting things to their “boards” by either clicking on the “pin it” button or using a free “pin it ” toolbar that is available. A Pinterest board is a beautiful site! It is full of images gathered from links online, kind of like a Bookmark list with images: Delicious desserts, cute craft projects, interior design ideas, fashion, shoes, purses, and so on…
Getting it together
It would have been a wonderful tool to use when planning a wedding for my daughter a while back. To have gathered ideas and organized them all in one place would be great for easy sharing and discussion with my daughter.
An uninvited guest
You can browse the fun that is Pinterest without joining. Or, you can go to Pinterest and request an invitation. For instant acceptance, you can ask a person who is already on Pinterest for an invitation. Drop me a request at [email protected], and I will be glad to send you an invitation.
Oddly, Twitter and Google+ have not ever seemed to have very many users from the Bristol area, especially women. Already, however, I have added so many people from Bristol on Pinterest, and I have not seen one man!
Low maintenance social media
Yes, you still “like” things on Pinterest, but the pressure is not as great!
