Bring the kids up to Trailside Park in Park City, Utah this Saturday, October 1st, 2011 at 10:00 a.m. for the 8th Annual International Take a Kid Mountain Biking Day that will be hosted by PlanetGear.com. The event will go until 2:00 p.m. and although it is for riders ages 6 to 16, all local riders are welcome.
Take a Kid mountain Biking Day is part of a nationwide celebration and is supported by the International Mountain Biking Association (IMBA). IMBA has pledged to get 30,000 children participating in 300 cycling events on October 1st to support First Lady Michelle Obama’s Let’s Move! initiative. Last year there were over 200 events in 35 states and several foreign countries.
All participants are encouraged to sign up for the Presidential Active Lifestyle Award (PALA) where you pledge to be active at least five days a week for six weeks.
There will be a professional mountain biker attending to go over safety training at the beginning of the event. After the bike ride, light refreshments will be provided.
You can register in advance for this event by E-mailing [email protected]. You can also get additional information, required waivers that need to be signed, and volunteer opportunities. Waivers can also be filled out and signed on the day of the event.
Make sure to bring your bikes, helmet, sunscreen and proper riding attire for this great event. Spread the word to your friends and family to help contribute to the goal of 30,000 children riding! It’s going to be a fun time up in the fresh air, surrounded by beautiful scenery in Park City.
Trailside Park is located at 5715 Trailside Drive, Park City, Utah 84098.
