Oh, the dreaded plateau. It happens to the best of us. You’re doing everything right, following a great weight loss regimen, losing weight, and feeling fit and energized, but then…nothing. No more results. This can get even the most dedicated to feel frustrated and defeated. The truth is, it happens to everyone, the good news is just a few tweaks can make all the difference in the world.
Change your exercise routine. If you’re always doing the same exercises everyday the same way, the body adjusts, making your same old routine less challenging and less effective. Try a different type of cardio. If you’re a faithful treadmill user, switch to the bike or elliptical machine. Add intervals of short bursts of exertion, followed by a steady pace. If you’re not weight training, this would be a great time to add weights to your routine. If you’re already using weights, add more and try working the same muscle groups with different exercises. The idea is to try something new. The longer you do something, the easier it will get. So move faster, push harder. Challenge your cardiovascular and muscle strength. You will almost certainly feel the difference.
