In Lafayette, Louisiana there are many Southern traditions followed by women and men alike and one is to look better than your man. Yes, you read that correctly. Looking good and putting your best foot forward is at the top of a lot of woman’s thoughts. In Lafayette, the competition is fierce to find that special man to look good for. One easy way to feel pretty is to always have painted fingernails and toenails. No matter that the economy is in the doldrums, pretty nails are a must have! Looking around there are many salons everywhere and you can even get your toes done at Wal-Mart. Pretty painted fingernails and toenails are always in style and are a Southern ladies pride and joy.
Here are pictures of fingernails done using the French manicured technique using Loreal French tip. If you’ve got a steady hand, you too can polish your fingernails to make them look manicured by the best salons. No one will ever know you did them yourself and all that is required is for you to do the least amount of housework so that your nails can grow long and lovely. Also, recruit others to do your dishes and gardening for you. If you absolutely MUST do this housework yourself, wear gloves. Best ever protection for your beautiful nails. Of course, in Southern Louisiana, it’s a status sign to be able to hire your own gardener and/or maid and to frequent the nail salon of your choice once per month to keep up with the acrylic nails. However, if you can’t keep up with the Jones’, here’s the next best thing. Choose a white nail polish for the tips and a clear or almost clear nail polish for the overall nail.
- Remove old polish
- Polish just your nail tips that are showing over your fingers; follow the shape of your nail. Use the white polish. Polish just the same but only polish the tips of your nails.
- After drying, use the clear polish over the whole nail, including the already polished tip.
That’s it! Simple and easy. Clean up any mess by dipping a q-tip in fingernail polish remover then cleaning up whatever mess-up you have. There are strips you can purchase which you stick onto your nailbed then paint your tip first. After drying, remove the strip then paint the rest of the nail and over the tip too.
What else can you do to have beautiful nails? Eat lots of calcium rich foods such as kale, yogurt, milk, cheese, and spinach. Take Vitamin D, Calcium, Iron, Vitamin C and also take a vitamin supplement containing biotin. According to MayoClinic.com, biotin increases nail thickness and strength. Alternatively, eat a biotin-rich diet that includes egg yolks, nuts, beans, cauliflower and bananas.
