Last week I summarized disc 1, chapter 2 of the compact disc version of “The Secret” by Rhonda Byrne. This week I will continue summarizing the CD set.
Disc 2, Chapter 3 – How The Secret Works
We are the creators of our universe by asking for what we want from God (or our Higher Power) through the Law of Attraction, which captures our thoughts, words, and behaviors. God orchestrates people, circumstances, and events to fulfill our wishes. The New Testament was the basis for this section and instructs us to take three simple steps: ask, believe, receive.
Write out what you desire, in the present tense, and explain very clearly what you would like. There are no limits. Ask for it through prayer if that is your style of asking. It is like ordering from a catalog, where there is a large inventory with enough for everyone and you need only place the order once.
Have faith in the unseen and know that what you want is yours as soon as you ask. Feel the joy of having what you requested emotionally, not just intellectually. Make believe if necessary. For example (from personal experience), have you ever been in a situation where felt angry but needed to seem happy? Did you force a smile? Did you eventually end up feeling happier? This is called “acting as if” something is true, and it can actually change our emotions. Believe that what you want to happen will happen, even if you do not know the steps to make it happen. Be like a great inventor: have an idea and believe it will work, even if you have no idea how you will achieve the end result.
Constantly practice putting yourself in a state of feeling good in order to be on the frequency of receiving all good things. Go look at the houses, cars, and jobs that you envision having and believe that you will receive them. Focus on a particular book or person or sum of money if those are things you desire. In some cases a material item will present itself, and in other cases you will receive an inspired idea or be inspired into action. The key is to act immediately, trusting your instincts and believing in the process without second-guessing yourself. In the words of Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr.: “You don’t have to see the whole staircase, just take the first step.”
Not everyone will embrace every aspect of The Secret. Choose whatever aspects speak to you and apply them to your life. If you find something particularly useful, please share your experience in the ‘Comments’ field below the article. Join me next week for Disc 2, Chapter 4.
