Monday, closing arguments continued in the Amanda Knox appeal murder trial and her family said that it was very difficult to hear. Amanda Knox has been preparing her statement that she will give later this week. Knox was convicted of murdering her roommate, Meredith Kercher and has spent the last four years in prison. The prosecution has asked for life in prison, but much of their evidence has been highly disputed and under fire during the appeal trial.
Monday prosecutors accused Knox of being “an explosive mix of drugs, sex and alcohol.” Amanda’s father said that the closing arguments were very difficult to hear.
Many people in Italy are saying that she may be released within the next week; this comes after spending almost four years in prison for a murder that Amanda Knox said she didn’t commit. The family is optimistic that Amanda will be exonerated of all charges, but the family was also hopeful during the first trial in 2009 when Amanda was convicted and sentences to 26 years in prison.
