UPDATE 9/28: Rob found someone to take Paige in temporarily until a permanent home can be found for her. No shelter for this beautiful girl! Thanks to our hero Rob for taking her off the street, and a major thank you to all who shared her story!
This is one of those times I’m really glad I’m part of a great community of animal advocates to share stories, because I need a big favor from all of you right now.
There is a dog named Paige in Brooklyn, New York who desperately needs us to share for her. Let me tell you her story.
A few days ago, my friend Rob found a beautiful puppy wandering the streets of Brooklyn. She was starving and had a twine leash around her front quarters. In the time she’s been living with Rob, she’s warmed up to people a lot.
There’s no way to know if she was neglected by her previous owner or if she got lost and was neglected by someone else, but the bottom line is, she wasn’t taken care of before this. Rob has been unable to get her to the veterinarian to see if she’s microchipped because he doesn’t have his own transportation, but it scares me to think she might go back to a negligent home.
According to Rob, Paige is playful and when he calls her, she jumps into his arms. She’s a big cuddler and she’s very inquisitive. In the few days she’s been there, they’ve attempted to housetrain her. She goes in the house occasionally but when they take her outside, she does her business there right away.
Every time he and his roommates have taken her out for a walk, people fawn over her (how could they not? She’s gorgeous!) Because she was either denied food or had to scavenge for it on the streets, Rob suspects she might have a minor food aggression, but she’s been allowing him to sit by her while she’s eating and has been getting better with that every day.
She hasn’t been bad with chewing, and as long as you give her a toy to play with, she’s pretty content!
Unfortunately, Rob cannot keep her in his apartment beyond tomorrow night (Tuesday, Sept. 27th). If he can’t find someone to pick her up before then, he’ll have no choice but to bring her to the killing machine that is NY AC&C!
Please share for this poor baby so we can find her previous owner and determine how she ended up like this, or find her a new owner that will give her a great life.
If you have room in your home, or if you have or know of a rescue that can take her in, please email Rob ASAP at email@example.com.
