This past Saturday at FranCamp, I spoke to franchisors and franchisees about Facebook Strategies. I mentioned that one of the most common questions I receive with respect to Facebook for business use is, “How do I get more people to ‘Like’ my Facebook Page?” I believe it’s an issue that all Page Admins at one time or another have faced.
The whole getting-people-to-‘Like’-your-Facebook-Page conundrum can be a serious buzz kill in the midst of your enthusiasm to embark on using social media to promote your business online. You’ve researched and found out that your target audience is in fact hanging out on Facebook. You’ve designed a fabulous custom landing tab with an irresistible call to action. You’ve optimized the content on your Info tab and you added a handful of applications that will further enhance your users’ experience. And then crickets.
Amid all of your planning, you overlooked the minor detail of how to let people actually know that your Page exists. Unfortunately, Facebook marketing is not a set-and-forget type operation. You will never stop trying to get people to ‘Like’ your Page. The more people who ‘Like’ your Page, the more people who know about your business, and the more likely your business is to land on the radar of someone who may one day be in need of your product/service offerings.
There are a number of possible ways to let your target market know about your Facebook Page. The best place to start is to make a list of every point of contact that you have with prospects and customers, both past and present. Each point of contact whether it is via email, direct mail, voice mail, radio, tv, etc… represents an opportunity to let people know how to find your business on Facebook and WHY they should do so. Remember, it’s not about you – it’s all about THEM.
The following 24 page guide provides several tips and examples of ways to let your target audience know about your Facebook Page as well as a few tips of how to keep them interested in your Page once they get there.

This is just a start. The possibilities are really limitless and I would love to hear the creative ways that you have come up with to let people know about your Facebook Page in the comments below.
On a final note, here’s a clever idea with which Reed Krakowitz, Marketing Director Qdoba Baltimore, is experimenting…
On Wednesdays at participating Qdoba Mexican Grills in Baltimore they offer half-price meals for students. As you can imagine, this awesome promotion brings the kids in the door. These same kids also happen to be a key target demographic for Qdoba’s Facebook marketing. Krakowitz is able to leverage this captive audience by bringing his laptop into the store and exchanging Facebook ‘Likes’ for coupons for Free Chips and Queso. You take 30 seconds to log into your Facebook account on the spot, “Like” the Qdoba Baltimore Facebook Page, and you are given your free coupon. What’s even more ingenious about this idea is that now everyone who has this free coupon will be coming back into the store at least one more time to redeem.
