In June, Disney announced Rapunzel, the spunky heroine from “Tangled,” would become the 10th Disney Princess character. An official welcoming ceremony will take place in London on Oct. 2, 2011.
To mark the occasion, which will take place in front of a global audience, Disney chose Kensington Palace, London, UK. It’s grand site for such a celebration, fit for both animated and real-life princesses.

At the ceremony, Rapunzel will welcomed by members of the Disney Princess royal court: Ariel, Aurora, Belle, Cinderella, Jasmine, Mulan, Pocahontas, Snow White and Tiana.
The official welcoming ceremony will be preceded by a Disney processional, complete with a Disney Princess horse-drawn carriage. The processional is open to the public. It starts at 1 p.m. GMT at Queen’s Gate and finishes at 1:30 p.m. at Kensington Palace. Disney recommends catching sight of the Disney Princesses along Mount Walk, near Kensington Palace. Guests can attend the processional for free, no ticket required.

VIPs and celebrities, such as Nicole Richie and chef Jaime Oliver, will also attend the Rapunzel Celebration, making this ceremony a high-profile celebration of all things Disney Princess.
But it is the little princesses who will take part in the festivities who will most likely share the spotlight with Rapunzel. More than 100 little princesses from across the globe will participate in weekend’s events. In addition to the welcoming ceremony, the festivities include a processional through Kensington Park and party activities.
In a dreams come true moment, three little princess won a trip to the event. The family, from Centreville, V.A., entered and won a “Princess Moment” video contest. The girls, Allie (age 8), Sammie and Katie (age 3) and their mother, Laurie Senio, will attend the weekend festivities.

Rapunzel’s adventures in London will continue beyond the ceremony. On Monday, she will be in the Disney Store in Oxford Street at 4:30 p.m. for an in-store signing.
In the meantime, Rapunzel has been doing a bit of sightseeing on her own. Each day this week, Rapunzel has been visiting famous London sites, taking photos for her fans to follow along.
