This Saturday, Events DC is hosting activities at RFK Stadium and the DC Armory commemorating the 50th Anniversary of the stadium’s opening.
At the DC Armory, there will be a free display of DC/RFK Stadium memorabilia and their tenants, from the Skins and the Senators/Nationals to the Diplomats and DC United. (There might even be a Washington Federals pennant there, but don’t quote me on that.) Per Events DC, “family-friendly activities include player appearances and giveaways.” The hours of the display are 9 a.m. to 7 p.m.
For those seeking a more in-depth look at the stadium, there will be free tours offered at 10 a.m., noon, and 2 p.m. Details: “Enjoy a behind-the-scenes tour of RFK Stadium including visit to team locker rooms and the field. To reserve a spot, please send an email to RFKStadiumtour@eventsdc.com. Email should include requested tour time and number of people. Reservations will be accepted until maximum reached.” To fully appreciate the experience guests are encouraged to shout “WE WANT DALLAS” repeatedly.
