Rock Bottom American Pub Celebrates its Third Year
Brad Gill and Vince Saele are proud to celebrate Rock Bottom’s third year.
Brad and Vince have known each other for over ten years. Brad initially worked for Vince as a side job from the fire department. A few years down the road Brad decided to go over seas for a year and a half to do contract firefighting with WSI in Iraq and Vince continued in the Bar/restaurant field. Brad and Vince kept in touch and eventually meet up while Brad was home on vacation. They had lunch together when Vince informed Brad he was wanting to open a new venue and asked if Brad would like to be his business partner for this new venture. Brad returned to Iraq for a few months, thinking about the investment, and eventually decided to go ahead with it. Brad returned home and construction started in July 2008 and the doors opened October 1, 2008. They wanted Montgomery to have a sports bar where the customers could cut loose, enjoy great food and have a great time in a safe place. They are known for the great sports bar atmosphere and best live music venue in the River Region. Part of the sports bar line up is the Game Day Menu: $7.50 pitchers and $1.50 12 oz. beers. Fans can enjoy the games on their 30 HD TV’s that include three 110” big screens. Not only can they come and watch the games, they also feature UFC PPV events. Along with the early evening events, the guys wanted to offer a nightlife scene for everyone.
As with any business, Rock Bottom has had its share of up and downs. Within six months after opening there was a flood of different nightclubs that opened so those up and downs could be expected. Brad and Vince stayed true to their original idea, an all American sports pub offering quality live entertainment, food and atmosphere, and Rock Bottom is still here three years later.
Rock Bottom has been recognized throughout the years with various awards such as Best Sports Bar, Best Night Club, and Best Bar.
Brad and Vince are always bringing the best entertainment to Montgomery and the surrounding areas. Over the past three years national acts such as Blackberry Smoke, Wayne Mills Band, Splendid Chaos, Black Stone Cherry, Colt Ford, Drivin’ and Cryin’, Pop Evil, 17th Floor, Miss Used and others have rocked the stage. Rock Bottom is known for its diversity and caters to all music lovers whether it’s country, hip/hop, rock or cover bands. There is something for everybody here, which has contributed to its success.
Along with weekly specials, Rock Bottom features local musicians throughout the week and have had opened mic night to encourage aspiring musicians to grace the stage or patio to gain experience and build their confidence to move on to the next level.

They also have 14 beers on tap, wide variety of domestic, imports, craft, and high gravity beer.
Rock Bottom is a non-smoking pub, but offers a 2000 square foot covered patio for those that smoke. During the Spring and Fall, acoustic acts are enjoyed on the patio.
Not only is Rock Bottom a place to kick back enjoy a game with friends, it has also hosted many benefits to help the community. Just this past year, they hosted the Red Cross Relief event and donations went to the tornado victims in the surrounding communities. Other special events have been Benefit for Johnes Sawyer, Hati Benefit, Corporal Dave Brown Benefit, Breast Cancer Benefit just name a few. They do this because they love to help others. Brad added,” It is nice to help out when we can. It’s great to see everyone come together to help out, whether it’s the person giving the donation at the door or the various bands that have donated their time and talent out to help. Everybody thinks of night clubs and bars as being negative businesses, its nice to have a positive influence on the community.”
