Jam band heavy hitter, Rusted Root, to hit the New Uptown Theater on October 24, 2011 at 7:00 p.m!
Tonic Productions, Mohawk Valley Promotions,The New Uptown Theater, and Eternal Images Tattoo present a night of great music on 10/24/11 with Rusted Root and local favorites, The Rusty Doves. Tickets are $20.00 in advance and $25.00 at the door. They are available online at tonic-productions.com and for physical purchase at The Uptown Theater Box Office, Eternal Images Tattoo, and at Tebbs Headshops in their Utica, Herkimer, and Rome locations.
Rusted Root has been a dominate presence on the world music jam band scene since the early 1990s and has continued to play to packed crowds at festivals and on their tours. Front man, Michael Glabicki has come through the area as a solo performer and with his trio, but this will be the first time the full band has been back in the greater Utica area in quite some time! They are on tour promoting their most recent album, Stereo Rodeo. Their laid back yet energetic sound combines elements of world percussion, acoustic jam and funk, and folk under layers of instruments and multidimensional vocals. Glabicki’s songwriting is a strong back bone for the group. From the official website: Original members Michael Glabicki (lead vocals, guitar), Liz Berlin (vocals, percussion), and Patrick Norman (vocals, bass, percussion) are joined on this album by Jason Miller (drums, percussion), Colter Harper (guitar), Preach Freedom (percussion) and Dirk Miller (guitar). “Labeling is dangerous and limiting,” said Glabicki. “We are a band made up of individual musicians who come together collectively to create music, call it what you want but we are simply creating music that has a message.”
Supporting Rusted Root will be The Rusty Doves, a bluegrass folk inspired duo from Utica with a loyal following. The Doves’ rootsy sound is skilled and playful and they have no concerns bending the listeners mind by playing contemporary favorites reflected through their unique sound. Many traditional songs will also be played for your enjoyment. Alyssa Stock’s broad ranged vocal floats atop her active mandolin and the rhythmic thud of Jerry Dee’s upright bass. The result is not something you will soon forget. Fans of Rusted Root are sure to enjoy the Doves, and vice versa!
Doors at 7:00 p.m. and the music will begin at 8:00 p.m.
