All Hazards NOAA Weather Radio | Live Chicago Weather Updates
Despite the showers that fell Sunday morning, this weekend was a pleasant one with seasonable temperatures, breezy and mostly dry conditions. Today, we will see much of the same, temperatures near 60 degrees and breezy conditions. Unfortunately, this will be our last day for a while of seasonable level temperatures. Changes are on the way.
A storm system to our west and the jet stream pattern will affect our weather for much of the week. Clouds and moisture will develop later today especially areas downstate across central and southern Illinois as a low pressure system ejects out of the Plains. While moisture is being drawn from this approaching storm system later this evening and on Tuesday, the jet stream will buckle allowing for an intrusion of Arctic air from Canada to invade the region. This will bring November-like temperatures to the area Tuesday through Friday. Meanwhile, the buckled jet stream will help to strengthen this storm system that will bring clouds, wind, and showers to the area Wednesday afternoon though Thursday. Much of the moisture will fall from the Ohio Valley eastward across the Northeast later this week.
