Nothing is cuter than a cat on a card!
Cats show up on Birthday cards, Valentine’s Day cards, Mother’s Day cards, Christmas cards, Thank You cards, and just-saying-hi cards (see Slideshow).
And we mustn’t forget those cards from the cat!
Grocery stores and One Dollar stores sell cat cards as well as most pet stores. A plethora of cards can be found at Old Port Card Works in the Old Port (right off Commercial Street across from DiMillo’s), 3 Moulton Street, 207-773-5181.
Old Port Card Works sells novelty items (it is located in a high-traffic tourist area) as well as cards. The card selection is wide-ranging though different manufacturers are not represented comprehensively.
You can find playful cats on Pop-Up Panoramics ($6.99 each), art deco-looking cats from the waghappy division of Calypso Cards ($2.95 each), and Dr. Seuss’s famous Cat in the Hat ($2.95 each).
Old Port Card Works does sell Positively Green Cards ($2.99 each). However, few of the in-store Positively Green cards include cat images.
However, Old Port Card Works does carry cards with eye-catching cat photos from Borealis Press as well as Design cards covered with embossed, stylistic felines; the latter selection includes Sympathy cards for the loss of a cat or dog ($3.25-$3.50).
Sending cards may be old-fashioned, but there isn’t a better way to lift someone’s spirits. And a cat on the card face always helps!
