UPDATE 10/28/11: Wonderful news. Lucasta was adopted and will be moving to the coast of North Carolina. Congratulations to Lucasta and her new family. Thank you for saving her, and thanks to everyone who shared her story.
It seems to never end. Another plea for a beautiful dog who is extremely urgent and in dire need of saving.
Lucasta, who was originally named Lucas since the shelter didn’t check to determine her gender before naming her, is facing death by way of the gas chamber. Today was actually the day for this inhumane and barbaric procedure to take place for her, but she has been spared.
However, not for long. If someone doesn’t step up for her today, tomorrow she will probably be gone.
She is a beautiful Border Collie mix located at Duplin Co. Animal Control in North Carolina.
She was brought into the shelter on a catch pole and was labeled aggressive, mad, and shy. She was probably so afraid, a had no idea what was happening to her, or where she was being taken.
Maybe they should have given her a chance to calm down before they labeled her. It’s normal for an extremely scared dog to appear that way.
But her ad says that she was evaluated by BC Rescue and she was friendly. Obviously after being given some time to settle down, she proved them wrong.
No one really bothered with her for three days. But when someone finally approached her they saw a beautiful, terrified dog. One that will be gassed in the back of a pick-up truck parked on a loading dock.
She shouldn’t die like this. No animal should. Gas chambers need to be banned everywhere.
What she does deserve is a chance at a great life in a happy home. When her time finally comes, she should be in the arms of people who have loved and cared for her all her life. Where she has felt safe and comforted.
Not in the back of a pick-up being gassed to death.
If you have a place for this little girl and want to save her, please do so immediately. Call Duplin Co. Animal Control at (910) 296-2159 and tell them you are interested in Lucasta. It doesn’t appear that she has an ID # and in her petfinder ad she is still listed as Lucas.
Please share for her because sharing saves lives.
