Shelburne Museum, located in Shelburne Vermont, is home to 150,000 works of Impressionist paintings, folk art, quilts and textiles. The sprawling complex has 39 buildings, 25 of which are historic.
Visitors come from throughout the United States and the world to view the museum works. Open for five and half months, the museum had over 100,000 visitors.
The new 16,000 square feet arts and education building will cost $14 million. It will include a 5,000 square foot gallery space, 2,000 square feet of classroom space and an auditorium seating 130.
The new complex will be open year round, giving more than 10,000 children the opportunity to participate.
