On Friday, November 4, Sickles Market, Little Silver, will host a Wine and Cheese Tasting Fundraiser to benefit Holiday Express. The event will be held from 7 to 10 p.m. in Sickles’ greenhouse, which will be dressed in magical holiday style.
The event, which is denim casual, will offer live entertainment by some of the best talent from the Holiday Express band; a silent auction will be brimming with rare, collectible wines, and there will be a live auction that includes the hugely popular Wine Crawls (progressive tours of some of the Jersey Shore’s best private wine cellars).
Sickles will serve spectacular gourmet foods and artisanal cheeses that include: Moses Sleeper from Cellars of Jasper Hill, Vermont Butter & Cheese Coupole, and Point Reyes Blue from Dairyland. Some of the tantalizing foods to be sampled are: Sickles’ Pumpkin Bisque Soup, Antipasto and Tortellini with Pesto; Sweet Red Pepper Relish Pizza donated by Fourth Creek Food Company; Alexian’s Duck Liver Mousse, Pâtés and Duck Rillette, D’Artagnan’s Organic Roasted Turkey and Daisy Chocolates and Cookies . There will be Lusty Lobster’s Raw Bar and a Wine Bar that will offer premium wines from Rumson Wine & Spirits.
“Bob and Leslie Sickles are about as generous with their time and resources as any people we know,” said Tim McLoone, founder of Holiday Express. “This event serves as a great kick-off to our season and also provides needed resources to help the people most in need during the Holiday season.”
“We are thrilled to once again help raise funds for Holiday Express,” said Bob Sickles, third generation owner. “The last event raised more than $80,000 and we hope to raise even more this year. We salute the mission of Holiday Express and share its values of genuinely caring for our neighbors in need,” explained Sickles. Recently, Sickles Market was awarded New Jersey Family Business of the Year by the Rothman Institute of Entrepreneurship at Fairleigh Dickenson University.
Founded in 1993 by Tim McLoone, Holiday Express is a grassroots, nonsectarian, registered 501(c)3 non-profit organization. Comprised of more than 600 volunteers – including more than 70 professional musicians – Holiday Express delivers music, food, gifts, financial support and friendship to adults and children who are physically and mentally disabled, living with AIDS or homeless, as well as the isolated elderly and others in need of the gift of human kindness during the holiday season and throughout the year.
