Atlanta’s social media event of the year is back. Digital Atlanta 2011 (formerly Social Media Atlanta) is slated for November 7th – 11th. The all-volunteer conference hosts over 60 events that are spread throughout the city, highlighting the city of Atlanta.
The topics covered at the events includes all things under the umbrella of digital media; social media, mobile media, gaming, and everything else digital. The sole purpose of the event is to educate, learn, and network with people that appreciate and have a passion for digital media. No matter what your skill level is there is a workshop to suite each need. The week long series of events celebrating technology includes something for small buisness owners, nonprofits, faith-based businesses, sustainability, entertainment, and mobile marketers.
“Digital Atlanta is about connecting people in the digital space, reaching out to consumers, and building the community. Whether you want to learn to integrate web strategies, SEO techniques, or creating a Facebook page there is literally something for everyone,” states Stephanie Frost, the Director of Programming for Digital Atlanta 2011.
Small businesses have the opportunity to maximize their digital media knowlege for a very afforable price. They also have the opportunity to get in front of tech savvy consumers by becoming sponsors for the event or contributing ‘in-kind’ donations. Some of last years’ donations came from the likes of local small businesses including: Dutch Monkey Doughnuts and Sweet Water Brewing Company.
One of the highlighted events this year is the “Sharpie Slam”, which is a live art battle between two teams of Atlanta artists using only Sharpie Permanent Markers and Sharpie Paint Markers. The artists will have a 6 x 8 foot canvas to cover in 90 minutes and will be judged by artist Mark Boomershine on November 9th.
The opening night party kicks off at the Fox Theatre and wraps up at Fado an Irish Pub in Buckhead. Opening night tickets are $40 and tickets to each event are $12.
