Amanda Knox’s family wasted no time issuing an invitation on behalf of their daughter to her former boyfriend Rafaelle Solliceto. Rafaelle’s father, Francesco Solliceto said that “through my daughter I learned that Amanda’s stepfather invited us to Seattle.” Fox News reported that despite the invite, Francesco Solliceto nor his son were planning on making the jaunt anytime soon. “At this time, we have nothing planned,” the elder man said.
How wise is it for two people accused and convicted of a horrendous murder — and who went on to break up romantically during the four years in which they were investigated and incarcerated — to “hang out” together after the fact, now that they are released?
And does Rafaelle and his father’s reluctance to connect with the Knox family have anything to do with Amanda Knox’s Prison Diary questions about Rafaelle?
If you consider a recent statement by one of the judges responsible for acquitting the two former lovebirds, it’s not wise at all that they rekindle where they left off.
Speaking out on State television recently, Judge Claudio Pratillo Hellman emphasized that while Amanda Knox and Rafaelle Solliceto were acquitted of murdering Meredith Kercher, it was only based upon the “truth that was created in the trial” and not necessarily the “real truth” about the night Meredith Kercher was brutally murdered.
Francesco Solliceto himself appears to be unwilling to allow his son to foster more relations with Amanda Knox after the terrible time his family experienced. After only a mere two-week relationship with the coed studying abroad in their homeland, his son ends up accused of murder.
Even Rafaelle seems hesitant to resume a relationship that he broke off himself before they even went through their appeals trial. The Times, according to MSNBC, reported that Solliceto didn’t seem too eager at all to reconnect with the girl that police say sat in his lap at the police station (making faces and kissing him) as Meredith lay dead.
“Amanda? Maybe I’ll see her again, but now I only want to be with my family,” Rafaelle said.
But if Amanda Knox is still addressing the questions about Rafaelle that she mentions in her Prison Diary, then she isn’t likely going to let his father — or his own reluctance to reconnect — stop her from seeing him again now that she is free. Her stepfather’s invitation hints at that fact.
On page 6 of Amanda Knox’s Prison Diary she stated early on in their imprisonment that she “want[s] to know why he [Rafaelle] lied about me. Is he still lying?’ and ‘What will happen if he keeps it up?”
You would think that someone who had been dumped and lied about by the two-week love of their life would not want anything to do with their former boyfriend. But the same Amanda Knox that penned that diary is the same Amanda Knox that wants answers from Rafaelle now, since they are no longer under Italian guard surveillance. And Amanda Knox’s stepfather is trying to help her reconnect with the boy who can give them to her.
