It’s that time of year again, when the celebration of halloween takes over in the “southland”. Many of the scary events started in September, but fortunately they will through October, giiving everyone the opportunity to plan – when and where – they will approach the spooks
From Long Beach to San Diego, there will be many places to enjoy halloween fun, and if you are a AAA member, all the following places offer you a discount, just ask at your nearest Auto Club office.
October 22 & 23, discover the creatures lurking at the Aquarium of the Pacific, 100 Aquarium Way, Long Beach, CA. Dress up the kids in their scariest costumes, as there will be a contest; watch and learn at the “Magic shows”; stay close together for the “spooky storytelling”; watch out for the “eerie animals” in the great hall. and enjoy the underwater pumpkin carving demonstration. There will be a creepy coloring contest and kooky crafts to display your childs abilities. This year Knotts Berry Farm in Buena Park has gone all out, first check out this site to see the ultimate haunt – http://www.ultimatehaunt.com/ – which is not recommended for children under 13 years. There are mazes and four scare zones – planned with the ultimate scary things – visit the infamous vampire nightclub; be careful at the stately mansion, whose “dark secrets” are guarded by ancient inhabitants, and stay away from the Eternity Infirmary where patient’s check in but can’t check out. Costumes are not permitted, and to attent this halloween event, which started September 23 and goes through October 31st, a “special admission ticket” is required. From Oct. 1 to 30th, weekends only, Knotts is geared to the kids with not-so-scary activities. They can enjoy – trick-or-treating; a monster dance party; and a costume parade – the kids event is included with the regular admission, but you can save 30 percent if you present a valid Auto Club Membership. Knotts is easily reach from the 91 freeway, then south on Beach boulevard.
Also on weekends between Oct. 1 – 30 Legoland California Resort celebrates halloween with trick-or-treat trails, a giant lego pumpkin, and costume contests. Get your legoland park tickets from your local Auto Club branch and get special pricing. Adults get in at the kids price and kids get half-off one-day park hopper tickets, good at Legoland California and Sea Life Carlsbad Aquarium. This makes for a fun weekend getaway as there is lots to do in nearby Carlsbad. Take the 5 Freeway towards San Diego and follow the signs. Check it out at http://california.legoland.com/
Seaworld’s Halloween Spooktacular runs between Oct. 1 and 31, Friday & Saturday. It is not that much further from Legoland California, and makes for two great places to take the kids – on the weekend – for spooky fun kids style, ages 12 years and under. Wear a costume if you wish, enjoy special halloween shows, meet costumed characters strolling the pathways, search for Captain Lucky’s treasure and leave with gloulish goodies. Ask for it by name when purchasing tickets and get a discount with your Auto Club Membership. To get to Seaworld take the 5 freeway, exit at Seaworld Drive, and follow the signs.
