Halloween’s coming up—are you ready to get into the spooky mood? You can get your scares and support local filmmakers at the same time with some of these local offerings:
“The Inner Room” by Jack Gastelbondo. One of the latest films to come out of Colorado, this creepy thriller stars Jessica Duffy (of “Ink” fame) and local filmmaker/ actor Marty Lindsay as a husband and wife who escape to a mountain getaway to cope with the loss of a child, only to find themselves haunted by more than just memories. “The Inner Room” will be available on October 11th through Netflix, but you could do the filmmakers a big favor by going there now and saving it to your list. It doesn’t cost anything to add to your list, but doing so will show Netflix that there is a large demand for the film and influence the size of their order. The film is also now available for pre-order through Amazon, to be released Oct. 11.
“Ink” by Jamin Winans. This Denver-made film shows off the talents of so many local actors, you just can’t name them all in one article, but if you have anything to do with the industry here, you’re sure to recognize more than a few faces. It’s also a brilliant piece of visual storytelling that has made a name for itself and for director Winans all over the world. You can get it from Netflix or purchase the film through Amazon or directly from Winan’s website (www.jaminwinans.com).
“You’re Not Getting Out Alive” by Kris Hipps. This locally made feature about a group of actors doing summer stock theatre in a remote mountain town has its world premiere tomorrow night (Oct. 1) at the Bug Theatre. Check out the trailer on youtube. Since the interior theatre scenes were filmed at the very theatre where the film is debuting, this premiere could prove to be an oddly unsettling experience.
“Shadowwalkers” by Mark Steven Grove. An older film starring Colorado actors Jason Coviello and Jennifer Summers. It’s a classic monster/ zombie type film, like something you’d see on late night Syfy. Available from Amazon and Netflix.
