If you don’t follow my column, my family and I are returning to NYC for a second year in a row for Thanksgiving weekend. Please bookmark my site and follow our trip as we venture back to the Big Apple!
We’re going to try something a bit different this year regarding the actual parade on Thanksgiving Day in New York City. We’re still going to see the parade live, but, we’re going to stay warm and dry AND inside this year. How is this possible you ask? Simple, we’re buying tickets for “Marriott Marquis Insider’s View of Macy’s Parade” through NYCVP.com (a highly reputable travel broker that specializes in New York City.) This option is not cheap, in fact, it is down right expensive at $485 per person, but, to us it is money well spent. Here’s what it includes:

Marriott Marquis Insider’s View of Macy’s Parade
Breakfast Buffet beginning at 8am Thanksgiving morning … then watch the Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade at balloon level from the 8th floor Broadway Lounge of the Marriott Marquis. You’ll revel in the sights of the world’s most famous parade — the balloons, the floats, the marching bands, and even Santa Claus himself!
Your Insider’s View option also includes a choice of a tour Wednesday at 3pm to the Macy’s Parade Balloon Inflation or a guided Holiday Lights Tour Thursday at 5:30pm. Tax and gratuity is included.
Wednesday Afternoon Balloon Inflation
Approximately 2:30pm until 6pm
We’ll take you by motorcoach to the festive area where the Parade begins to take shape. You’ll see the grand balloons being inflated, take lots of pictures and perhaps hear commentary from parade veterans. Afterwards we’ll take you back to midtown via an abbreviated Holiday Lights tour. Roundtrip motorcoach is included, along with the services of a professional tour guide while on the bus. The balloon-inflation area is self-guided.
Thursday Evening Holiday Lights Motorcoach Sightseeing Tour
Approximately 5:15pm until 7:45pm
“It’s a Christmas spectacle you don’t want to miss!” The color, the pageantry and the lights of Christmas in New York City … you’ll see it all on this deluxe motorcoach tour hosted by a licensed tour guide that will surely be the highlight of your Christmas vacation in the Big Apple.
With children who get cold quickly or need to use a restroom (when everything is closed in NYC) this option makes the most sense to us. Plus, in the event of rain, we’re covered – very literally! After all, one of the main reasons to go to NYC over Thanksgiving is the parade and this way we’re insured a warm, safe time is had by all.
We’re excited as the count-down to NYC has once again begun for us. Stay tuned as Thanksgiving in NYC draws closer and be sure to watch for my live reports from NYC!!
