Oscar-winning filmmaker Steven Spielberg says “The X Factor” executive producer Simon Cowell is a very different judge on American TV than he is on British TV.
Spielberg said that he got hooked on “The X Factor” U.K. when he was in Great Britain in 2010 to direct and produce the movie “War Horse” (based on the book, which later became an award-winning hit play on Broadway and the West End). In an interview with Empire magazine, Spielberg revealed:
“My family became completely infatuated with ‘The X Factor.’ We watched it all the time. I wanted to go to sleep because I was shooting but I’d wind up watching instead of sleeping. I became a sappy devotee. I couldn’t believe how nice Simon had been to his fellow Brits and how horrendous he had been to all of the Americans. What an attitude adjustment!”
Spielberg has several projects released in 2011. In addition to directing and producing the films “War Horse” and “The Adventures of Tin Tin” (whose release dates vary by country), he is the producer of the movie “Super 8”; executive producer of the films “Reel Steel,” “Cowboys & Aliens” and “Transformers: Dark of the Moon”‘; and executive producer of the TV series “Falling Skies” and “Terra Nova.” In the U.S., “Terra Nova” and “The X Factor” U.S. are televised on Fox.
