When you live in a city as rich in history as Philly you know there are old historic sites all around town. But with structures and locations that old, you know they come with amazing stories and maybe even some extra inhabitants such as ghosts. These spots are fun and scary to visit any time of year but Halloween just makes it seem right to check it out.
In Philly ghosts are big business. Some things you can do to check these out include visiting the haunted prison at Eastern State Penitentiary. The prison is a tourist attraction all year where people can tour the facility and learn about some of the famous prisoners. During Halloween the prison hosts Terror Behind the Walls and lets you go through the prison for a good scare.
Another fun option is the Ghost Tour. This is a candle light tour where you walk around the Independence Hall and Society Hill area. You start at 5th and Chestnut and it takes 75-90 minutes to let you go to the different locations.
Some of the stores you could hear would include the guard that was shot in 1980 at the Betsy Ross House. Since that time there have been strange noises reported. This one even made it onto the TV show Ghost Hunters.
If you are looking for a great place to spend Halloween, come on down to Philly and see why people are never want to leave here.
