Although you may be self-motivated, a workout partner can bring additional motivation and strive into your goals as well as their own. There may be days that you just don’t feel like getting in the gym and getting after the goals you’ve been inspired to reach and maintain. Be it a group exercise class, a jog, a resistance workout, swimming, etc. Whatever your workout consists of, feed off of each other to keep your progress accelerated. You may be a member at a health club and if you are, you can observe a group exercise class like Zumba for instance and feel the power of strength in numbers. Everyone taking the class has individual fitness goals, but come together to exercise and barely feel like they’re working out because they’re having so much fun dancing. Of course there are a numerous amount of group exercise classes offered at most health clubs, but I don’t believe I’ve witnessed more people motivated in one class more than Zumba.
Using a group exercise class was just one example, however this remains applicable in aquatic aerobics, weight training, any cardiovascular workout, and so on. Talk to your friends and family about what you do for your health and fitness. Bounce ideas, suggestions, techniques off of one another. It may very well be the case that sharing your own regimen may work for your potential workout partner. Even if whomever you choose to share your workouts with may never physically be in a position to train with you and vice versa, you can try out different suggestions that have been proven to work out for a relative, friend, co-worker, etc.
Very soon it will be cold out. You may not want to get up and go for that morning jog alone. You may just want to get off work and rush home to the couch, dinner, and the television. Urge yourself to fight anything that would keep you from your fitness goals and get after that picture of yourself that’s been in your head since you first saw that image. Be the one to say “I want this for myself and I want my family and friends to see what it does for me.” Become infectious and you’ll be not only adding time to your ticker, but you will inspire your family and peers to do the same and that is the beauty of health and fitness. It’s literally for any and everyone. Now go get ’em!
