If you have been following the Super Kids Resale Event Clark County series, you know that the big sale was October 14-16th. The series took readers through the registration process for consigning and/or signing up to volunteer, getting kid items sorted and ready for the sale, tagging, and checked in at the sale. Well, the results from the sale are in and now we are ready to see how it all went down.
Jill Sughrue of Super Kids Resale Clark County estimated that there were over 1,000 shoppers for this first time in Clark County event. 78 registered consignors brought in a myriad of items to sell. There were a total of 544 transactions, and consignors on the average earned $202.00. Sughrue describes some of the consignors as ‘professional consignors’, in other words, they obtain large amounts of kid related items or clothing from family, friends, garage sales, etc. and bring them to consignment sales as a way to earn a little extra spending money. While that is good for business, Jill’s initial desire when getting involved with Super Kids was a consignor who was a mother/parent passing on those outgrown clothes, toys and gear that were used personally. Reduce, Reuse, Recycle. Fortunately, there were plenty of sellers and shoppers to make the first Super Kids Resale event of Clark County a real success.
For this reporting assignment, I decided to experience the sale first hand as a consignor, volunteer and shopper. Here are my personal results:
I consigned a total of 49 items totaling approximately $200.00 (prices that I selected for my items). I sold a total of 24 of my items some for full or a discounted price for a total of $99.00 of which I will get $64.35. Here’s a copy of my Seller’s Report:

I was also able to shop at the presale for consignors and volunteers, so I found some of the cutest clothes, and costumes, and toys for my kids. I purchased 30 items, totaling $159.00 ($172.04 with tax). So, for 107.69, I got many items that my kids needed. If you conservatively figure I saved 50% off of new store prices I could have paid double or more for the items I purchased. Also, whatever is still in good condition for the next fall sale, I can consign and make some of my money back there as well. So, all in all it was a great experience for me as well as many other consignors and shoppers.
If you are interested in participating in the next sale, mark your calendars now. The next Super Kids Resale event for the Portland Oregon area will be held on April 12-15th, 2012 in Plaza 205. This event will feature spring and summer clothes as well as many kid related items.
