Christine went to Redemption Island to meet Semhar, who appeared to be pretty tired and out of it. Christine was still surprised at having been voted out from her tribe.
Back at Upolu, Brandon was still confused as to why Mikayla wasn’t voted out. He worried that he was starting to play the game like his uncle. They received tree mail the next morning and were instructed to choose two people to go watch the first Redemption Island Duel. Coach and Stacey asked to go.
They were greeted with Ozzy and Elyse when they got to the Duel arena. Christine and Semhar looked pretty rough, and Semhar had to recite a poem/song prior to the Duel. They each had to balance a small totem on the end of a pole. When Jeff instructed them, they had to add another section of pole under the first one. After two sections of pole had been added, Semhar lost her totem first and was officially the first one out of the game, sending Christine back to Redemption Island.
Out of nowhere, Brandon took his shirt off and revealed that he is Russell Hantz’s nephew to everyone, all of whom were shocked. Immediately afterward, he apologized to Coach for not letting him know he was going to tell them first.
At Savaii, “Papa Bear” began to realize the pecking order and the fact that he, Dawn, and Cochran would be the next in line to go. Ozzy has a feeling of brotherhood with Keith, so he told him about having the Immunity Idol, since he trusts him. That worked well, considering he turned around and told Whitney right away.
Mikayla talked to Brandon about why he doesn’t like her, and he told her it was because of her attitude. Brandon decided to gather the tribe together to fill them in on the situation. He asked to be kept out of the drama and walked off. This left Mikayla in tears…and Brandon in a pile of ashes and tears.
The Immunity Challenge was another Reward Challenge, played for coffee, tea, milk, chocolate, and cookies, along with another Hidden Immunity Idol clue. The challenge itself was rather complicated and a three-part process. One member from each tribe had to run out across a wood bridge in the water and carry a body board to get to the end, while other tribe members turned the crank to feed rope attached to the board. Once they reached the end platform, they had to grab a bag and get reeled back in from their tribe. There were five bags total. These bags then had to be picked up using grappling hooks, which Whitney and Coach did pretty well with. Coach retrieved all five bags first, which he and Edna opened to get their flag puzzle pieces, which they had to arrange into their tribe’s flag. Elyse struggled to get the final bag for Savaii, and Upolu came through with the victory.
Back at camp, Savaii narrowed their choices down to Papa Bear and Cochran after Dawn’s great performance during the challenge. The alliance of five made a quick decision to vote out Papa Bear. Ozzy told Cochran they would tell Papa Bear they were voting Cochran out, but they would really be voting out Papa Bear. He was conflicted on what to do because he didn’t want to go home. Ozzy and Jim broke the voting Cochran out news to Papa Bear, who didn’t buy it. He sprinted off into the woods in search of an Immunity Idol to save himself, which Elyse took notice off. He pretended to find the Idol and went back to camp with an “extra large bulge in his pocket,” as Cochran described it.
At Tribal Council, Jeff turned to Cochran first, who said he is trying to prove he is an asset to his tribe. He asked Papa Bear about leadership, and he mentioned the group of five taking control. Talk turned to the Immunity Idol, but no exciting news was revealed there. In the end, it was Papa Bear who was voted out and sent to Redemption Island.
