Rake (Active): Talon sends out a volley of daggers in a cone that then quickly return back to him. This attack deals physical damage every time it passes through an enemy. Additionally, the enemy is slowed for 2 seconds.

Cutthroat (Active): Talon instantly appears behind his target, silencing them for 1 second and amplifying his damage against that target for 3 seconds.

Shadow Assault (Active): Talon disperses a ring of blades outwards and gains stealth for up to 2.5 seconds while gaining 40% movement speed. When Talon emerges from stealth, the blades converge on his location. Each time a blade passes through an enemy, they receive physical damage. Each enemy can only be damaged once at the start of the ability and once at the end.

These are the masteries I use for Talon, which is a standard 21/0/9 offensive mastery build. I choose to ignore the Archaic Knowledge mastery as Talon is a physical damage dealer in all aspects. His cooldowns are fairly short on his abilities so there really isn’t a need in putting a lot of points in Sorcery. The rest of the points distribution is pretty standard otherwise.
These are the runes for Talon that I use. I use Armor Penetration Marks, Physical Damage Quintessences, Armor Seals, and Magic Resist Glyphs. Armor Penetration Marks, because this helps you with last hitting and helps you deal more damage with your abilities by reducing their armor. Physical Damage Quintessences allows Talon to deal more damage at the early levels as well even if you don’t have a lot of damage items and farm. Armor Seals and Magic Resist Glyphs gives you a bit of lane survivability by reducing the damage you take as you have no sustain in the lane like other champions do. A good alternative to this rune set up is to have Armor Penetration or Health Regen Quintessences.
I run flash and exhaust for my summoner spells. I take flash so to allow for quick escapes and to catch up to those that flash. Exhaust is great on Talon as it activates his passive and allows you to continually deal damage while in range of the target without taking too much damage back.
Skill Order 1-6:
Start off with a Doran’s Blade if you feel that you can sustain in the lane pretty well against your opponent. Otherwise start off with Boots and 3x Health Potions so that you can sustain in your lane and farm. Afterwards on first return you should start building for Brutalizer, but if you need more health for survivability, buy another Doran’s Blade. After finishing Brutalizer, you want to start saving up for a BF Sword and building into a Bloodthirster. After that item is built you want to grab Phage and start building a Trinity Force, which will give you everything a melee needs. Health, Mana, Movement Speed, Damage, and a Slow. Next start building Infinity Edge and finish off with Guardian Angel. If the opposing team builds a lot of armor to counter you, then sell Brutalizer for Last Whisper, otherwise turn Brutalizer into Yomuu’s Ghostblade. Some alternative items for Talon are Frozen Mallet for health and a slow instead of Trinity Force and building a Atmas Impaler to compensate for damage and survivability. If you need magic resist, go for an early Hexdrinker or a Banshee’s Veil.
Talon’s laning phase can be tough depending on who you are fighting against as you have no real lane sustain. Your main way to get last hits is to use Rake for both last hitting and harassing. Rake does a fair amount of damage, so you can clear minions fairly quickly. This helps for when you are fighting against mage type champions that can clear minion waves with AOE. Talon is very good at harassing champions with his Rake ability, however, the best combination for Talon to maximize his damage is to initiate with Cutthroat followed by Noxian Diplomacy and then Rake. This causes the most damage and burst pre level 6. After level 6 you want to use Cutthroat, Noxian Diplomacy, Rake, and Shadow Assault or swap Rake and Shadow Assault for order. Either combination will most likely land you a kill. This holds especially true against the enemy carry who is fragile or any mage champions. Your main job as Talon in the laning phase is to farm as much as possible while maximizing you lane dominance and control over your opponent. This occurs mainly around by level 4 for Talon as you get most of your abilities by then. If possible get as many kills off your opposing laner as this will help you into the late and mid game with early damage items allowing you to deal as much burst as a melee assassin as possible.
