In 1997, the late Notorious B.I.G. had a hit with the song “Mo Money, Mo Problems.” As for the case for Sunday’s episode of The Amazing Race, the song should be titled “Less Money, Mo Problems” as one team’s money problem caused them to be eliminated from the competition.
In Koh Panyi at Thailand, teams were instructed to go to Anda Adventures and travel by elephant to get to the next clue at the Khlong Song Phraek River.
The next clue was the first Road Block where one member have to follow the flute music near the waterfall and go underwater to find the next clue. They have to find out that the clue is below the flutist and smash the ceramic fish to get it.
The next clue told them to go to a local shop to disassemble a spirit house and deliver the pieces to the Wat Chanathigaram temple. Upon arriving, the teams got another clue that was another Road Block. This time, one member have to assemble the spirit house to exactly the same way that they found it. Also, the member who didn’t performed the first one with the elephant must perform the second one. Tommy wasn’t paying attention when Andy was taking the house apart, and the snowboarders have to go back to study it again.
Meanwhile, the other teams had took notes, with the exception of Laurence and Zac. Zac wanted to take notes, but his father refused. Maybe he should have listened to his son because, as a result, they have to go back to study the spirit house again. Meanwhile, Ernie and Cindy also struggled and have to go back.
After the second Road Block was completed, teams were told to take a bus to Bangkok for 13 hours and head to the Bangkok Noi Canal to feed the fish to get the next clue.
When Laurence and Zac got on the bus, they realized that it was first class and thought that it was against the rules. So, they left and have to go all the way back to the bus station to buy another ticket. Meanwhile, Ernie and Cindy were having money problems with a cabbie when they gave him American dollars not Thai dollars. Then, a woman joined in and accused them of ripping him off. Besides, they claimed he was a bad driver. But, they eventually paid him.
Meanwhile, Liz and Marie have to performed a Speed Bump since they came in last in a non-elimination leg. In this case, they have to wash the elephant they rode on. They were actually excited to do it because they loved elephants. Really, they were happy to clean an elephant. You can bet that the elephant was also excited to be bathe by twins. But, the twins were having money problems as they don’t have enough cash to pay the cabbie at the bus station and feared that the bus will leave without them. However, the cabbie was kind enough to take their remaining money and took them to that bus that was waiting for them.
After they fed the fish, the teams have to travel to the M.R. Kukrit Heritage House for the Pit Stop. Andy and Tommy have to wait to get directions as a teacher was busying teaching her class. Doesn’t this woman knows that they are competing in a race? Does she have a television?
In the end, Marcus and Amani came in first and won a trip to Bali. When Laurence and Zac came in and told Phil about having to switch buses because they thought it was against the rules to go first class, Phil told them that the rule only applies to air travel and the 3-hour trip back to the bus station was completely unneccessary.
Meanwhile, Jeremy and Sandy were besieged with money problems and getting lost that they thought they were eliminated. Then, Phil pulled out a fake-out by asking them if they know what happened to make them feel that they were going to be eliminated. Fortunately for them, they came in seventh.
Meanwhile, Liz and Marie found out that they have to walk for 5 hours to the canal because they don’t want to beg for money in a cash-strapped neighborhood. Fortunately, they found a cabbie willing to give them free cab rides. It was quite surprising to see a cabby giving free cab rides to a set of beautiful blonde twins. Quite shocking! Sadly, it wasn’t enough as they came in last and were eliminated. It was a tearful end as they talked about their father who passed away in the summer. However, they said that he always told them to never give up. That was very touching and moving.
You can watch The Amazing Race every Sunday night at eight on WRAL.
