Yeah, yeah, yeah – it’s a little early to start thinking about Thanksgiving.
But with the economy so bad, it’s heartening to find a place that will help people just because they need help.
And that knows the value of a dollar whether it’s public or private.
When you find an outfit that can feed people complete Thanksgiving dinners for $1.92 each, you need to help that outfit as soon as possible.
City Rescue Mission in Jacksonville, Fla., has done it for over 65 years.
About City Rescue Mission
Established in 1946 by Christian businessmen to help alcoholics in the Greater Jacksonville area, City Rescue Mission (CRM) offered “soup, soap and salvation.”
The Mission is a non-profit 501(c)(3) privately-funded corporation dedicated to rebuilding the lives of the homeless and needy through positive re-inforcement and religious teaching. CRM depends on donations from churches, civic organizations, businesses and, most of all, just plain folks.
For nearly 70 years, CRM has provided food, clothing, shelter, emergency services and residential recovery programs for homeless men, women, and children.
Your $1.92 for Thanksgiving dinner covers the cost of the food, the preparation of the food, and serving it.
That’s good value for money no matter how you slice it.
Come on, $1.92 for a whole Thanksgiving dinner? That’s some smokin’ money management.
Please help keep them in business.
Hey, GJE, Money’s Really That Tight. What Else Can I Donate?
Like most shelters, City Rescue Mission needs everything.
Most of all, they need your time, especially at the holidays.
Because they operate on such a tight budget, they need as many volunteers as they can get.
What’s maybe 10 hours out of your month? Just that little bit of TV time goes a long, long way.
Besides time, they need donations of coupons to buy food and supplies, donations of food (of course), equipment, household goods and furniture.
With so many in the same leaky boat right now, it’s nice to be able to give back when such a little bit helps so much.
$1.92. For a whole dinner. That’s all they’re asking.
