Glen Rose, Texas, a small town southwest of Fort Worth, TX best known for the dinosaur tracks embedded in local riverbeds, is host to a spectacular annual event called “The Promise” which is “A Musical Experience of the Life of Christ.”
The live production began in November 1989, with current performances held Friday and Saturday evenings only during the months of September and October at the Texas Ampitheater – which is the largest permanent outdoor stage in the Lone Star state, seating 3200.
From the official website: “What began as a passion play has become an exciting, live musical drama, a Texas tourist destination, and a powerful testimony to the entire world.”
“Narrated by a grandfather and his grandchildren, the story begins on the banks of the Paluxy River in historical Glen Rose, Texas. When the topic of conversation changes from dinosaur tracks to the upcoming birth of the grandchildren’s youngest sibling, they are reminded that every life is special to God. In fact, one baby was so special, God gave Him as “A Promise”.
“EXPERIENCE THE GOSPEL LIKE YOU’VE NEVER EXPERIENCED BEFORE.”
“Utilizing an award-winning musical score, live animals, and a cast and crew of over 200 dedicated Christians, The Promise is sure to be the most memorable theater experience of a lifetime.”
“COME SEE THE PROMISE UNDER THE BEAUTIFUL TEXAS AUTUMN EVENING STARS AT THE TEXAS AMPHITHEATRE IN GLEN ROSE, TX.”
May I also suggest you bring your unsaved friends (your treat!) and pray that if it is God’s will to bring them into the kingdom, then they will accept and answer the call.
