There is still time to enjoy the Rock & Roll Exhibit at Very Venice Art & Design Gallery. This brand new gallery recently opened its doors in August, 2011 and is a collective, a combination of a co-up, and a gallery together. Artists take turns working in this brand new gallery and share the responsibility to keep it fresh and exciting. Very Venice Art & Design Gallery’s owner, Dary Rees is the fearless leader, commander and chief and overall support staff and den mother/cheerleader to all the artists.
Each month specific artists are featured in a new show. The Rock & Roll Exhibit recently opened and is still welcoming new visitors. Artists featured in this show are Dawn Bradley, Dale Brown, Ian Clemmer, Linda Fentster, Megan Geer-Alsop, Elaine Levi and Vega.
Every artist has a different take. What they choose to create and how they look at the world around them. Megan Geer-Alsop is inspired by nature, people, people in nature and the nature of people….and color too, definitely color.
Artist Dale Brown explains “Assemblage is my way of recycling by making fun and quirky art with other peoples old discards”.
The artists are free to express themselves as they see fit. Basically they curate their own section of the current exhibition. It’s a supportive environment where everyone is encouraged to flourish.
Vega chimes in with her personal experience, “Oscar Wilde’s childrens tale, The Nightingale & the Rose always broke my heart, no matter how many times I read it. As one of the caretakers of burden, she continues to hold me in awe….the sacred beauty that comes when one has the courage to sing their own song, regardless of the outcome.”
Mosaic Artist, Linda Fenster, also shared how she has been inspired. “After seeing Gaudi’s mosaics in Barcelona I was inspired to create mosaics. My colorful South African roots influence me. I love color and composition and collect jewelry, plates and tiles from all over the world.”
Enjoy Ian Clemmer’s photography, Elaine Levi’s beautiful handbags and unique painted shoes by Dawn Bradley.
