Just after completing a three-month Artist-in-Residence program at the Fairmont Hotel in Dallas, Hobbes Vincent has opened an exhibit at the Ross Akard Gallery.
Vincent is well known for the 230-pound, 13-foot long, 7-foot tall stag that graces the lobby of the Fairmont Hotel in downtown Dallas.
Even though Vincent went to a well-known school for the arts, he wasn’t interested in computer design. He likes working with his hands and is a self-taught sculptor. He was an intern at Reel FX and worked with Brad Oldham as chief sculptor for Oldham’s studio.
“He is the most naturally gifted artist in Dallas,” said Bryan Embry, owner and director of the Ross Akard Gallery.
From small to large, you can find yourself looking at the intricate details of his pieces for a very long time.
The Hobbes Vincent Solo Exhibit runs through November 10. Gallery hours Tues. through Sat. 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. For more information go to www.rossakard.com or call 214-720-5394.
