The final audition rounds for “The X Factor” arrived rather quickly, and we can definitely say that some of the best were indeed saved for last. There was quite a bit of entertainment to be had here, including a few contestants we could be seeing into late November and early December.
Astronomical Kid – We’re calling Brian by his actual performing name, and he’s good enough as a rapper in order to be in this business for some time. The next Jay-Z may still be a ways away, but he’s on a way to something.
Kelly Warner – Someone sang “Hallelujah.” Let’s act shocked.
Aaron Surgeon – A guy goes on “The X Factor” and sings something by Steven Tyler. Hooray for irony?
Liliana Rose – She almost reminds me of Sarah Silverman meets Zooey Deschanel’s character from “The New Girl.” But she can sing!
Andy – This man needs no last name — he’s simply Andy. In a way it’s hard to feel anything but bad for the guy, who was paraded out there and embarrassed and made into believing that he could have a chance with Paula Abdul.
Cashmere – It’s not a good thing if Simon is laughing before you start singing.
Cari Fletcher – “Alone” is one of those songs that no one should ever be allowed to sing on a reality show again after Carrie Underwood and Allison Iraheta (especially since we’re still trying to forget what happened with Jacob Lusk). Granted, Cari is a pretty fantastic singer — though she needed to sing in a higher register the whole time.
AusEm – Considering just how much support this group has already, it’s scary to even say anything negative about them. While they were cute together, they really weren’t that good. The girl in the group (in Emily) really struggled with some of the vocals, and we see this group getting split at some point.
Tora Woloshin – What an interesting person this was. Tora looks a little like Lady Gaga, wants to own an auto shop, and she delivered a killer cover of the Jackson 5’s “I Want You Back.”
Stereo Hogzz – Their name is straight out of 1998, and the same could be said for their all-black outfits. That being said, they have some talent — which is welcome considering that there really is not too many stellar groups on the show.
Brennin Hunt – Brennin is in many ways the anti-Tora. While they both have a tremendous talent, Brennin went out on stage talking about how good-looking he is. He’s just not someone that is as easy to root for.
Leroy Bell – This man may be the best-looking 59-year old ever.
Jazzlyn Little – We’re hoping we get the spelling right on this one, since she is someone we are going to be seeing for a long time.
