They are here. Detroit has a new, fresh artists’ collective called “We Are Here” and they will be at the Art Effect Gallery near Eastern market for just two days in October: the 7th and the 8th. The exhibit is organized by artist Angel Busque, who has gotten advice from fellow artist Craig Paul Nowak.
“The main objective of this exhibition is not only to showcase the work, but also to create a[n] environment where there is an audience and interaction with the artist so that we can connect and facilitate a creative atmosphere in the community,” explained co-curator Allison Graw.
Besides Busque, other artists in the show include Donavan Allen, Justin Bilicki, Andrea Cardinal, Arthur, Kendall Curtis, Blair French, Ayaka Hibino, Matt Hessler, Stephen Jandasek, Erik Maluchnik, Marc Paffi, Mark Penxa, Nathan Rapport and Nathaniel Shannon. Graw has already obtained sponsorship for advertising and promotion but could still use sponsorship for hors d’oeuvres and other art opening essentials.
