Fighting Congressman, Manny Pacquiao arrived at Wildcard Boxing gym for media day work out on Wednesday afternoon driving brand new gun metal grey Ferrari and wearing slippers and white socks.
“This is Manny’s world,” said Pacquiao’s strength and conditioning coach, Alex Ariza or at least it felt like it inside the Wildcard Boxing gym.
Pound for pound best fighter would rather work out than do interviews, but on Wednesday he had to start by answering numerous questions from various media outlets.
“Everything in Manny Pacquiao’s life is because of boxing,” said Pacman’s trusted coach and confidant, Freddie Roach:” And he knows that.” So, how does Manny feel about being on top of the boxing world?
“I feel very happy and very thankful to god for giving me this kind of blessing in my life,” said Pacquiao, 33:” To all fans of boxing, thank you very much for believing in me.”
The ongoing preparations for upcoming bout with Juan Manuel Marquez bring confidence to team Pacquiao. Eight division world champion is scheduled to defend his WBO welterweight title and pound for pound number one ranking against a fierce rival, Marquez on Novemeber,12th,20011 at the MGM Grand Garden Arena in Las Vegas. Twelve rounds or less contest will be televised live by HBO PPV. Coach Freddie Roach believes it will be less than twelve; he predicted the fight won’t go past six rounds. Conditioning coach, Alex Ariza said that Manny trains like the man possessed. Alex has to hold Manny down and make sure he does not over train and get a sufficient amount of rest for his body to recuperate. Even Manny himself seems wound up for this event.
“This is kind of something special,” said Pacquiao (58-3-2,38KO’S):” And I have trained very hard for this fight and I think I am ready to fight.”
In spite of how close their two previous bouts were, Las Vegas bookmakers have installed Pacquiao as an eight to one favorite to win the contest. Pacquiao is on the very top of his game and Marquez at the age of thirty eight seems to be approaching the end of his career. But don’ tell this to Marquez. The Aztec warrior believes that he won the first two fights and promises a clean sweep on November 12th. Does Manny believe he will be facing the same opponent he faced in 2008 and 2004?
“I think he is slower now compare to before,” said Pacquiao:” He is slower, but I am not underestimating him. He is a tough boxer, tough opponent. He is strong moving up to higher weight division.”
As intense preparations in and out of the ring continue, Team Pacquiao is leaving little to chance; they are determined to keep the outcome of this fight out of the judge’s hands.
“For this fight in this training camp,” said Pacquaio smiling:” We do outside ( fighting), we do inside, right hand , we do everything.” With only sixteen days remaining till the night of the event, the buzz around the fight is picking up steam.
