Gwinnett Symphony Orchestra and Chorus will present Masterworks A Young Persons Guide to the Orchestra Family Concert on October 30 at 5:30pm. This concert is appropriate for ages 5 and up and will feature the work A Young Persons Guide to the Orchestra by Benjamin Britten. October 29 the Gwinnett Public Libraries will host an Evening at the Suwanee Music Barn in Suwanee as part of their Fall Into the Arts Series. This free concert is open to the public and will begin at 8pm. For more information visit www.gwinnettpl.org and click on Events.

As part of their childrens playhouse, Aurora Theatre in Lawrenceville will present Atlanta magician Arthur Atsma with a Halloween themed magic show. This tradition continues at the Aurora, with Atsma performing sleight of the hand magic that will amaze the entire family. The show will be on October 29 at 10:00am at the Aurora Theatre. The Aurora is located in downtown Lawrenceville at 128 Pike Street. Tickets are $7 each and advance reservations are strongly recommended. Atlanta Radio Theatre presents The Horseman of the Hollow. The Horseman of the Hollow presents the classic story of Ichabod Crane and the headless horseman, with a definite Southern flair. This performance is part of the The Sleepy Hollow Ride Across America event, and will be presented October 29 at 8pm and October 30 at 2:30pm. All shows will take place at the Academy Theatre 119 Center St., Avondale Estates. Tickets are $10 in advance and $15 at the door. Fabrefaction Theatre opens the Stephen Sondheim musical Sweeney Todd October 27 at 8pm. Acclaimed by audiences and critics alike since it’s Broadway premiere in 1979, Stephen Sondheim and Hugh Wheeler’s heart-pounding masterpiece of murderous barber-ism has been newly imagined by Fabrefaction Theatre Company. Sweeney Todd runs through November 13, with a special performance on October 31. All performances will take place at Fabrefaction located at 990 Brady Avenue in Atlanta. Red Door Theatre will present their Halloween Family Funhouse October 28-30 at 7pm at the Red Door Theatre in Roswell. This event features a showing of their Halloween childrens show, Revenge of the Space Pandas. Guests are asked to come dressed in your best Halloween costume to participate in the contests, carnival game and interactive family show. There will be plenty of candy and prizes at the event. Winder-Barrow Community Theatre will open their show Terror By Gaslight on October 28 at the Colleen O. Williams Theatre located at 105 Athens St in Winder. The show will run through November 6. In partnership with ArtWorks Gwinnett, the shops at Honest Alley will host a Chalk Walk and ArtFrolic. This downtown Lawrenceville community event is for artists, art lovers, and more.
