Prepare to immerse yourself in a spirited Japanese experience this weekend.
The Spirit of Japantown Festival 2011 takes place this Saturday returning for its 5th year bringing a full day of fun for all ages, in one of the three major Japantowns still existing in the United States.
The festival features seven blocks of food vendors; a beer, wine, and sake area; arts and crafts; martial arts demonstrations to include swords; Ikebana art, bonsai exhibition, kids zone, open houses, taiko performances, hula dancing, raffle, car expo, and the list goes on.
There will be a wide selection of food to purchase in the streets such as, shaved ice, Thai food, ramen, yogurt treats, Hawaiian BBQ, sushi, gyoza, pork buns, food wraps, teriyaki, and Japanese curry.
The Zero Waste Green event drew 17,000 people at the 2010 event and this year, with pleasant weather in the forecast, it should be a perfect outdoor event to go to.
