Most likely at some point in your child’s school years they will end up with a teacher that you have a hard time getting along with. It could be anything from them not being as talkative as the last teacher to their homework policy. You could have your child pulled from the class and placed in another, but is that really the best way to handle it. As long as your child is happy in the class and is having no issues with this teacher then it is probably best to just try to get along with the teacher.
Below is a simple list of things you can do that might help you get along with the teacher.
1. Never talk bad about the teacher in front of your child. If you child hears you they may either repeat it, or worse they will start having issues with the teacher as they think you do not like them and they should not either.
2. Try to be open and communicate with the teacher at convent times, and be understanding if and/or when the teacher does not have time to talk to you. Try to make it to every open house and conferences.
3. Offer to help. Teachers have a lot to do. Sometimes just having a parent offer to help makes the teacher open up. As a stay at home mom you can take some time out here and there to volunteer. Even if it is just to read a book to the kids or help with a holiday party.
4. Ask your child what they like about his or her teacher. Try to push aside the things you don’t like and see the good things your child likes.
